The Avon City Council has officially designated park lands, situated on the former Traxler Family Limited Partnership property, as the Traxler Family Arboretum.

According to minutes from the Avon City Council's March 25 meeting, Mayor Bryan Jensen stated that Avon residents might be able to access the trail in the arboretum before July 1.

Jensen also mentioned that the city was working on restoring a bridge to be used as part of a walking trail through the property. He expects this work, including a walkway from the parking area to the bridge, to be completed before Superintendent of Streets Tim Loeser retires in several months.

According to Jensen, an entrance will be installed for the arboretum. This task will require Loeser and his crew to cut down some trees. The city plans to utilize grindings from upcoming road improvement projects for constructing a roadway for the park.

In anticipation of opening the arboretum to public access, Jensen expressed his desire for a council walk-through followed by an official ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening.
