The Avon Lake City Council has granted its residential solid waste, recyclable materials, and yard waste contract to Kimble Recycling & Disposal Inc., based in Dover, Ohio. The five-year agreement, which is fixed-rate, is set to commence on April 1.
According to an Avon Lake press release, the contract will take effect from April 1, with containers being delivered by the end of March in sizes of 96, 64 or 32 gallons. The decision to award the contract was made during the city council's meeting on January 22.
The same press release informs that residents are offered two options for yard waste collection. They can either continue to use paper bags and/or their own containers marked "Yard Waste," or they can opt for a Kimble 96-gallon yard waste container that accommodates four to five paper bags. Residents also have the option of placing their "Yard Waste" marked containers next to the Kimble yard waste container for a quarterly discount of 78 cents.
In addition, according to another Avon Lake press release, monthly bulk waste pickup will continue to be available at no extra cost on a date chosen by the resident. A chart will be provided outlining charges per item should there be additional need for bulk waste pickup. It is mandatory that all freon be removed from refrigerators.
The city council has also decided that six occasions will be allowed when temporary trash and recycling containers can be placed in city parks for events, as per an Avon Lake press release. These trash and recycling containers will be strategically placed throughout the city for the upcoming 2024 Eclipse Event.
Kimble will send detailed information about these changes to residents via the U.S. Postal Service within the next few weeks, says an Avon Lake press release. The city's website and social media platforms will also disseminate this information.
