Rocky River Mayor Pamela Bobst has announced that deer culling will commence this month and continue through March in the Rocky River Reservation. The project will be managed by MetroParks.
According to the minutes of the Jan. 8 Rocky River City Council meeting, the deer culling is set to begin on Jan. 16 and run through March 14, operating from noon until 6 a.m. the following morning.
Mayor Bobst stated that safety is the top priority for the Natural Resources Management team overseeing the cull, according to the same council meeting's minutes. She emphasized that highly skilled and trained marksmen will participate in the operation.
The police department will be informed about the culling activities, and notices will be posted, as per information gleaned from the council meeting minutes. Additionally, residents who live adjacent to the reservation will also receive notifications, with specific information being sent to those directly impacted by the operation. No direct disturbances are anticipated.
