Quarterly sanitary sewer bills were mailed out to Rocky River property owners recently that should be arriving in their mailboxes. These bills, dated Dec. 1, correspond to the estimated sanitary sewer usage from Sept. 1 to Nov. 30, which is considered the third quarter of the billing year.

In regards to how these amounts are determined, Sanitary sewer bills are based on one-quarter of the past year's water usage, according to a City of Rocky River press release. The minimum charge is equal to one MCF (thousand cubic feet) per quarter, which equals $38. The Rocky River sewer rate is $38 per MCF billed at one-tenth of an MCF of water used.

Additionally, residents need to be aware that, As the bill due date is Dec. 31 and that falls on a weekend, the city will accept payments from property owners without penalty through the next business day, Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, according to a City of Rocky River press release.

To provide clarity about the yearly schedule, Rocky River's sanitary sewer billing schedule includes an annual adjustment and four quarterly payments, according to a City of Rocky River press release.
