The Rocky River Board of Zoning Appeals will hold three public hearings on Oct. 26 for homeowners who want to construct front porches, additions, garages, and sheds with less than the required setbacks. The hearings will take place at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at Rocky River City Hall.
One of the appeals comes from Kevin and Linda Lange, who want to construct a front porch with a 26.5-foot front setback at their Kenwood Avenue home instead of the required 30-foot setback.
Another appeal is from Mark and Emily Malloy of Homeland Drive. They want to construct a two-story addition with less than the required 6.25-foot side yard setback. Additionally, they want to build a detached garage that would be 11 inches taller than the maximum 15-foot height allowed. The garage would also have less than half the required 5-foot side yard setback.
Lastly, Mark and Jen Osborne are seeking to add a front porch with a dormer addition that would be 6 feet short of the required 40-foot front setback. They also want to construct a 128-square-foot shed, which would be 8 square feet bigger than the requirements. The shed would have a 2-foot side yard setback instead of the required 5-foot setback.
These appeals will be heard by the Rocky River Board of Zoning Appeals on Oct. 26. Homeowners who wish to construct structures with setbacks that do not meet the requirements will have the opportunity to present their cases and seek approval from the board.
