In the 79th Annual Rotary Club of Lakewood/Rocky River Speech, Music, and Visual Art Contest, students from Rocky River High School made their mark. Zoe Satayathum and Koreen Manja distinguished themselves, with Satayathum securing second place and Manja receiving an honorable mention for their artwork.
The press release revealed that Rocky River High School students demonstrated their artistic abilities with 23 pieces selected for exhibition, underlining the school's artistic strength. The participating students included Shea Alexander, Sydney Allen, Fiona Clark, Marcos Hernandez, Isabella Phillips, Gia Benjamin, Brianna Ciocca, Will Gesci, Elisa Hammarlund, Loline Jiang, Shane Kleckner, Lucia Ramirez-Leszko, Vivianna Widmer-Obregon, Kyle Rush, Satayathum, Audrey Slankard, Sylvie Sterick and Rualri Zuercher. These students will be acknowledged alongside other award winners at a forthcoming ceremony on April 15 at the Beck Center for the Arts.
The Rotary Club of Lakewood and Rocky River stated that the annual contest showcases the exceptional talents of students from five high schools: Lakewood, Lutheran West, Magnificat, Rocky River and St. Edward. The Beck Center for the Arts in Lakewood serves as a vital partner in this event by facilitating communication with educators hosting competition phases and providing judges.
The Rotary Club further said that it has made significant contributions including organizing Christmas parties for disadvantaged children initiating speech contests for students founding the Lakewood Rotary Foundation and supporting various community organizations through grants and scholarships. The club's tradition of giving back continues to flourish with ongoing projects such as delivering dictionaries to third graders sponsoring youth exchange programs and honoring outstanding students.
