The Avon Lake City Council is progressing towards the acquisition of a property formerly known as the "coal pile," situated adjacent to the wastewater treatment and water tower property on Lake Road. This piece of land used to house a power plant.

According to the city council's Feb. 26 meeting agenda, a second reading of an ordinance was held to finalize the purchase of this property, located between Walker and Lake Roads, for $3.25 million. The Municipal Utilities Commission had approved this 35.38-acre property purchase on Feb. 6.

The city council's Feb. 26 meeting agenda also reveals that the transaction will be conducted through its Board of Municipal Utilities, Avon Lake Regional Water. The selling party is identified as Avon Lake Environmental Redevelopment Group.

In accordance with the city council's Feb. 26 meeting agenda, Avon Lake will formally execute the purchasing agreement.
