Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne and Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb have announced the awarding of multiple grants for programs designed to enhance the living conditions of the local unhoused community. Over $3 million has been distributed among seven local agencies.

"This is just the beginning. We’re working with a tremendous sense of urgency and have more exciting announcements on the horizon," said Bibb, as reported in a City of Cleveland press release.

According to the same press release, these multiple grants will be allocated towards emergency shelters, support services, outreach and engagement initiatives, prevention strategies, and other efforts aimed at improving conditions for the local unhoused community.

The City of Cleveland press release also revealed that grants were awarded to several organizations including West Side Catholic Center, Emerald Development and Economic Network (EDEN), Journey Center for Safety and Healing, Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry, Catholic Charities Corporation, Salvation Army, and the YWCA of Greater Cleveland.

The press release further disclosed that programs set to benefit from these grants encompass Men’s Shelter, Norma Herr Women’s Center, Bishop Cosgrove Center, St. Augustine Hunger Center, North Point Housing, Moriah House Family Shelter, and Zelma George Family Shelter. Out of the total funding of $3 million, EDEN will utilize over $1.2 million for rapid re-housing initiatives. The remaining funds will facilitate day shelter provision, overnight beds availability, meal assistance programs, domestic violence services delivery, disabilities housing provision, operational costs support measures among other essential care provisions.
