Avon Lake, a city in Ohio, is seeking volunteers to serve on its various boards and commissions. These include the Civil Service Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals, among others. The terms for these positions vary between three to six years.

The city, in its website press release, stated that "Some members offer professional or technical skills, while others simply bring a passion for Avon Lake and a willingness to work as part of a team, but all who serve make a big difference."

Serving on these boards and commissions allows residents of Avon Lake to engage with their local government directly. According to the city's press release, it provides an opportunity for them to give input and recommendations to the Avon Lake City Council.

The city's press release also indicated that six boards and commissions will have vacancies effective from Jan. 1, 2024. The deadline for applications to the Avon Lake Planning Commission was Dec. 29. Among the city panels, the Civil Service Commission has the longest term of six years while the Zoning Board of Appeals has a five-year term.

The Community Reinvestment Area Housing Council, Digital Media Commission, and Tree Commission each have three-year terms according to the same press release by the city.
