The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland has embarked on the search for its next president and chief executive officer. The new leader will assume the role following the end of President and CEO Loretta J. Mester's tenure on June 30, 2024.

Federal Reserve History reveals that Loretta Mester took office on June 1, 2014. She became the eleventh president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland after serving at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia since 1985. During her tenure in Philadelphia, she rose to the positions of senior vice president and research director in 2000.

Mester's research interests, as detailed by Federal Reserve History, cover a broad spectrum. These include organizational dynamics and effective functioning of financial institutions, financial intermediation and regulatory practices, issues related to credit markets, pricing strategies in credit card markets, central bank governance, and matters concerning inflation.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland's website encourages public participation in a virtual town hall slated for January 9, 2024, at 9 am EST. Members of the search committee for the next president and CEO of the Cleveland Fed will be present at this event. These include committee chair Heidi Gartland and member Darrell McNair who will address community inquiries. They are expected to discuss the search process, outline the responsibilities of a Reserve Bank president, and highlight essential qualifications and attributes necessary for success in this role.
