Residents and tenants in Rocky River are now eligible for free home repairs worth up to $8,000, courtesy of the Cuyahoga County Board of Health.
The health board is extending this financial assistance through its Lead Safe Cuyahoga program, targeting specific cities including Rocky River, as stated in a press release posted on the Rocky River website.
According to the same press release, eligibility for this funding extends to owners and renters in these target cities who have children aged five or younger and meet certain income requirements. The available funding can reach up to $8,000 per home, although landlords are required to contribute a minimum of $500 towards the repairs.
Potential home repairs covered by this program may include windows, doors, porches, and exterior work on houses. Further information about the program can be obtained by calling 216-201-2000.
The Cuyahoga County Board of Health's Lead Safe Cuyahoga free home repairs pre-qualifying application stipulates that income eligibility begins at a maximum of $44,050 for a single-person household and scales up to $83,050 for an eight-member household.
In addition to this financial aid for home repairs, parents also have the option to get their children tested for lead at the health board's clinic by dialing 216-201-2041. The press release warns that lead poisoning can cause learning and behavioral issues in children and potentially harm their brain. It also notes that many homes built before 1978 may contain lead-based paint.
