Seneca County Commissioners Bill Frankart and Tyler Shuff, along with other community leaders, actively participated in the launch of Tiffin's Christmas season during the 2023 Holiday Tree Lighting Experience. The event featured various festivities including Santa's visit, live music, and the lighting of a tree adorned with ornaments made by local fifth graders. This marked the opening of the Kris Kringle Market.
Over 300 students from Tiffin City Schools, Calvert Catholic Schools, and Seneca East participated in the second annual CommuniTree project. They were joined by local businesses in decorating ornaments for the occasion, according to a release from the Seneca Chambers.
According to Destination Seneca, the evening commenced at the Seneca County Justice Center with festive tunes performed by Beth Mattia. A reading of "‘Twas the Night Before Christmas," a visit from Santa, and the illumination of Tiffin's Christmas Tree and the Seneca County Justice Center followed this performance. After the tree lighting at the Justice Center, attendees were encouraged to explore the East Tower and National Corner, both adorned with holiday lights. Frost Parkway made its seasonal debut while Frost Village enhanced the overall holiday lighting experience.
Chamber member Tim Horton’s generously provided complimentary hot chocolate during the event. The conclusion of the holiday tree lighting signified the start of Downtown Tiffin's inaugural Kris Kringle Markt. This open-air holiday market featured German/Bavarian-inspired Christmas offerings and live holiday music.
