The City of Cleveland has unveiled its latest update of the Cleveland North Coast Master Plan, which aims to provide all-season programming, a natural wetland, and a raised or "perched" sand beach. According to a press release from the Office of Cleveland Mayor Justin M. Bibb, the top desired experiences and amenities identified by community members include affordable lakeside dining, festivals and cultural events, access to a sandy beach area, nature and green space, water access, community space, an inclusive and welcoming environment, economic development opportunities, public access, history, and the arts.
Updates to the plan include the addition of all-season programming, a natural wetland, and a raised or "perched" sand beach. The plan also includes a 150,000-square-foot multi-modal transit hub to increase access, as well as added residential, retail, and dining amenities, including a 16,000-square-foot food hall.
To ensure community input, the North Coast Lakefront project team will be present at grocery stores, recreation centers, and schools to gather input from residents citywide. Additionally, residents are encouraged to take a short survey at clevelandnorthcoast.com to have their values, visions, and desired experiences along the downtown coast of Lake Erie represented in the North Coast Master Plan.
The Cleveland North Coast Master Plan aims to enhance the city's waterfront and create a vibrant and inclusive community space that meets the needs and desires of its residents. With input from thousands of individuals, the plan seeks to transform the Cleveland North Coast into a thriving destination for both locals and visitors alike.
