Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, career opportunities in nursing in Northeast Ohio remain strong. Cleveland Magazine identified nursing as a trusted profession with high demand and strong starting salaries.
With multiple campuses across the region, Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) offers accessibility and state-of-the-art facilities for nursing students to attend classes and for employers to find top talent.
Wendy Batch-Wilson, dean of the Nursing Center of Excellence at Tri-C, explained how the “full career ladder” approach to nursing education offers a significant advantage to students. The career ladder allows students to “step out” during their education to become nursing assistants and licensed nurse practitioners (LPN) or continue to earn an associate degree and residential nurse (RN) licensure.
Batch-Wilson encourages Northeast Ohio employers to provide nursing students with employment opportunities while in school to “get exposure to nursing while getting paid,” along with flexible schedules that support a student’s paths to completion.
