Cuyahoga Community College issued the following announcement on March 10.
Annual summer festival accepting applications through April 3
Tri-C JazzFest Cleveland, presented by KeyBank, has opened an online application for local and regional bands to play the outdoor Strassman Insurance Stage at Playhouse Square as part of the festival’s 43rd season.
Music industry experts will select the individuals or groups for the stage lineup. A variety of musical genres will be considered, ranging from jazz (of course) to blues, R&B, funk, gospel, jam band and reggae.
Fifteen acts will ultimately take the stage to entertain JazzFest crowds between 3 p.m. and midnight on Friday and Saturday of festival weekend. Applications will be accepted through April 3 at tri-c.edu/jazzfestcall.
"We love this component of the festival because it showcases the great talent here in Northeast Ohio," said Terri Pontremoli, festival director. "Come ready to dance, because these acts will get you on your feet."
The 43rd annual Tri-C JazzFest runs June 23-25. The festival includes nine ticketed concerts inside Playhouse Square’s historic theatres, plus free outdoor shows and other activities.
The 2022 indoor lineup will be announced March 15. Visit tri-cjazzfest.com for a schedule of ticketed shows after the announcement.
Festival passes — which offer VIP seating to all nine ticketed concerts, plus other perks — are now on sale for $200 each. Though the price will increase to $250 after the lineup announcement, concertgoers will still save $150 compared to the cost of single tickets to all nine shows. Visit jazzfest2022festivalpass.eventbrite.com to purchase.
Single tickets go on sale April 15 through the Playhouse Square Box Office at 216-241-6000 or playhousesquare.org.
Tri-C JazzFest Cleveland is made possible by Cuyahoga Community College, KeyBank, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Ohio Arts Council, The George Gund Foundation and a growing list of donors and vendors.
