Cleveland State University: Partners with Amazon to Offer Fully Funded Tuition to Company’s Hourly Employees

19

Cleveland State University issued the following announcement on March 3.

Cleveland State University is partnering with Amazon to further expand career advancement opportunities the company offers its 750,000 hourly employees in the U.S. As Amazon’s only four-year degree partner in Greater Cleveland, CSU will provide eligible Amazon employees with a fully funded education through the company’s Career Choice program.

Career Choice is Amazon’s upskilling program designed to help its frontline employees grow their skills for career success at Amazon or elsewhere. Through Career Choice at CSU, Amazon employees can pursue a bachelor’s degree, earn industry certifications leading to in-demand jobs and build skills through English language proficiency.

“We’re excited to be Amazon’s Career Choice partner in Greater Cleveland,” said Cleveland State University president Harlan Sands. “Helping working students advance their careers and enhance their social mobility through education is core to our mission, as is developing the talent to meet the workforce needs of our region’s employers. It’s what we do best. We look forward to welcoming Amazon employees to CSU.”

Since launching in 2012, Career Choice has helped provide education for more than 50,000 employees, and Amazon’s Career Choice program works with more than 180 education providers across the U.S., which along with colleges and universities includes partners providing industry certifications, English language proficiency, and high school completion programs. Career Choice is one of nine free skills training and education programs that Amazon offers to its employees as part of its Upskilling 2025 pledge.

"When employers invest in upskilling their people through training and education, it benefits those employees as well as Ohio's economy by building a workforce pipeline for the present and the future," said Ohio Department of Higher Education Chancellor Randy Gardner.

Amazon employees interested in attending CSU should apply for admission on the university’s online application website, and select “Cleveland State University” as their school in the Amazon Career Choice Portal.
